Gene Therapy Center
– A Swedish core facility for plasmid DNA vectors for gene therapy

Gene Therapy Center has been appointed by the Swedish Gene Therapy Program (Cancerfonden, MFR, Stiftelsen för strategisk forskning and the Wallenberg foundation) to serve as a core facility for production of plasmid vectors for gene therapy research.

Since 1998 Gene Therapy Center has been manufacturing GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) grade plasmid vectors for clinical trials both in Sweden and in other European countries. So far more than 60 batches of clinical grade plasmids have been produced.

To meet the increasing demands from our customers novel technologies for large-scale GMP production are under development. The center is also developing efficient novel vectors and delivery systems for gene therapy applications.

With the appointment of Gene Therapy Center as a core facility the services will extend to include non-GMP production of high quality plasmid DNA vectors intended for gene therapy research in Sweden at an affordable cost. The cost of production is available upon request.
